Treatment failures in Trypanosoma b. gambiense sleeping sickness patients treated with melarsoprol: Isolation and characterization of trypanosomes.
Joint determination of the prevalence and extent of possible overlap of T. b. gambiense and T. b. rhodesiense areas in East African countries.
Studies of transmission of T. b. rhodesiense and T. b. gambiense strains from epidemic areas of Eastern Africa by Glossina species.

Training

Training courses for national capacity building and technical transfer are regularly organized.
There are M.Sc. and Ph.D programmes for selected students within the research areas.

Conference

An annual conference is organized by one of the network countries. This offers a platform to report on progress, to review the ongoing research and to plan and co-ordinate further activities.
